How to boost your energy levels?

An incredible number of people complain they struggle to leave their beds in the morning and feel extremely exhausted even if they’ve slept enough hours.

Many of us experience energy levels that fluctuate throughout the day. Too often when we want an energy kick, we reach for the cup of coffee, chocolate or energy drinks full of sugar and taurine. Sure, when you consume these, you’ll get a kick because of the high amounts of sugar and caffeine being released in your body producing energy, but it won’t last for long and you’ll crash. In the long run, by doing this you will be harming your body as it is being put under unwanted stress.

Another possible reason for our exhaustion can be down to our technological lifestyle. We’re constantly connected and reachable because of our phones, computers, laptops, tablets etc, and this puts a lot of demand on our body, brain and soul. Our bodies are not designed to always be on the go, therefore this high demand of always being on leads to mental and physical exhaustion.

We can break this harmful routine and focus on our mental and emotional health by increasing our energy levels and well-being.

Ways to boost your energy level:
  • Remove refined, high sugar foods from your diet as it is no good for your body. Instead stock up on healthy snacks you can have on the go.
  • Get nuts that are rich in nutrients, minerals, proteins and good fat.
  • Turn off your devices when you’re eating or at home and want to relax. If you’re not working, turn off work notifications and enjoy your time at home away from your troubles.
  • Try out the “downward dog” yoga position. It will energise your body, enhancing blood circulation as you’re stretching your arms, calves and shoulders.
  • Listen to your body clock and get enough sleep.
  • Drink loads of water. Drink 2 litres every day.
  • Try drinking green tea or mint tea. You could even put fresh mint leaf’s into hot water.
  • Say yes to supplements to help support your body’s needs.
  • Keep an eye out for different nutrients and vitamins that are required for energy production.
    • We need B vitamins in a complex form.
    • CoQ10 is an important coenzyme that plays a key role in the production of 95% of the body’s energy!
    • Magnesium is needed by our bodies to support our nerves, brain and muscles, as well as playing a key role in our cell’s energy production.

If we feel well rested, happy and have the right amount of energy, people around us will benefit too and we become more proactive and more focused on leading a better life.
