PABA

PABA

PABA (para-amino benzoic acid) may sound like a harsh chemical substance but it is actually a building block of Vitamin B9 (folate). It is often described as an essential nutrient for the microorganisms that make vitamin B9 for us. Occasionally it is referred to as “Vitamin B10” as PABA has biological and antioxidant activity that is independent of its incorporation into vitamin B9. It helps to maintain healthy hair, skin and nails.

PABA is found mainly in Brewer’s yeast, wholegrains, eggs, leafy vegetables and wheat germ

Benefits:

  1. PABA is used by bacteria in the gut to make folate.
  2. It is used to treat irritable bowel syndrome and constipation.
  3. It is reported to help with fatigue and mood.
  4. It is used orally to treat skin problems such as pigmentary marks.

Pearl

All over the world pearls have a tremendous reputation as a symbol of perfect beauty. It takes a long time to develop. Traditional Chinese medicine believes the valuable minerals and essential amino acids from pearl powder can nourish the skin and slow down ageing processes by improving the metabolism, supporting moisturisation and protection against environmental-damage effects.

Pearls consist mainly of aragonite (CaCO3) and traces of conchiolin, an organic horn-like protein (albuminoid) compound. Pearl is a natural marine ingredient for extra value to cosmetic formulations as a luxury and elegant additive as well as a natural marine mineral supply. It may support the regulation of complexion and rejuvenation from dry to tired skin and hair.

They can be sourced from salt or freshwater, where freshwater generally has higher polyphenolic content.

100 g of pearl extract = 95 g of CaCO3 and 5 g AAs and Proteins.

  2. Enhances non-enzymatic and enzymatic antioxidant activity.
