A Smoothie and Mask for Your Hair!

We all spend time rejuvenating and re-balancing ourselves with regular facials and changing our skin care routine when the stresses of life become too much and start to reflect. We lose ourselves in skincare and tend to forget to take care of our hair.

Healthy bouncy hair is what you want for a lifetime and is an even bigger struggle for those who were not blessed with healthy hair from the beginning. So, we need some extra help to get to our ultimate hair vision. Try this easy tried and tested recipe that will provide the right nutrients for your hair.

Ingredients and why we include them:

½ avocado – for the protein and essential fatty acids

1-2 cups of leafy green baby spinach – for Vitamin B12

A handful of mixed nuts or seeds of your choice – for essential fatty acids

1 pinch of cinnamon powder – to stimulate hair growth

2 cups of water or as per your desired consistency – for hydration. I use coconut water since coconut is best for your hair

TIP: make sure the ingredients are as fresh as this is best. However these ingredients can oxidise with time so you must use them as soon as possible.

Method:

Take a good quality smoothie maker or blender and add all the above ingredients to it.

Blitz for about 10-15 seconds and it’ll be ready to drink.

It may feel odd at first drinking a smoothie that is meant for your hair, so here is a quick Hair Mask to go along with it! I have always been a fan of fresh homemade masks for your skin and for your hair. This is my grandma’s tried and tested hair mask recipe that I want to share with you.

  • Combine  2 tablespoons of honey  with 2 teaspoons of cinnamon powder and a sufficient amount of olive oil till it forms a paste.
  • Rub the paste on your scalp (make sure you cover it all!) and leave it on for 15 minutes.
  • At first rinse the mixture off with water and then use shampoo till it’s no longer on your scalp.

Hair is a beautiful form of self-expression and we should all get to feel confident in ourselves. Please try out my recipes and remember your hairs health is important too!
