Maca
Maca (Lepidium meyenii) is a herb that is native to the Andes mountain area near Peru (hence the term “Peruvian Ginseng”). The root has traditionally been used for cooking and for medicinal purposes and local people have used it for generations to treat anaemia and fertility. It contains many nutritional ingredients including Vitamin B6, Vitamin C, copper and iron.
It has been reported to protect cartilage from degradation and has been clinically tested for treatment of osteoarthritis. Maca is a strong antioxidant and is used to treat tiredness and fatigue, especially in cases where tiredness is associated with the menopause. Maca extract may also improve brain function and increase concentration.
