Peptan® is responsibly sourced from carefully selected Tilapia, which are white fish high naturally rich in nutrients. They are deemed fit for human consumption and guaranteed by official veterinarians, and all imported edible fish are validated by establishments registered by the European Union.
Through persistent, sustainable and ethical practices, Rousselot’s efforts have been recognised and certified by the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC), Friend of the Sea (FOS) and Where Food Comes From (WFCF). The WFCF certifies that Rousselot utilises high-quality fish skin that would normally be discarded, giving them the UPCYCLED STATUS on their sourcing. Whilst the MSC and FOS are environmental bodies that aim to ensure alignment has been met with marine conservation standards in wild-caught and farmed fish, respectively.

How is our Hydrolysed Marine Collagen sourced?
The Peptan® T is sourced from aquaculture, regulated freshwater farms that closely monitor water quality, temperature, and nutrition. These controlled conditions help ensure the collagen content in the fish skin reaches optimal levels prior to extraction.
A small portion of our sourcing comes from wild-caught fish. This carefully managed approach supports the health of marine ecosystems by maintaining natural population dynamics and preserving species diversity. By incorporating both farmed and wild sources, we help reduce dependence on any single source and contribute to the long-term sustainability of aquatic environments.

Converting Sustainable Raw Material Into Clinically Backed Marine Peptides
Once the fish skins have been collected, it is ready for collagen extraction, it is treated and washed to isolate the collagen molecule to extract maximum amounts of collagen. A few steps later, it is enzymatically hydrolysed, which means broken down into smaller fragments using enzymes. It is essential at this point to control the conditions of this reaction to yield consistency. Factors like Temperature, pH Level, duration, and enzyme type are strictly monitored to produce highly bioactive and more absorbable Hydrolysed Marine Collagen. Finally, it is treated with heat, filtered and spray-dried. Each batch is fully traceable to its original raw material and specific fish source with documented evidence, ensuring transparency and accountability at every stage of production.
