The merriam webster definition for sugar is “a : a sweet crystallizable material that consists wholly or essentially of sucrose, is colorless or white when pure tending to brown when less refined, is obtained commercially from sugarcane or sugar beet and less extensively from sorghum, maples, and palms, and is important as a source of dietary carbohydrate and as a sweetener and preservative of other foods”
There are so many different types of sugar but the two we consume the most are glucose and fructose. We all crave this sweet thing, but it has many disadvantages for us when we consume to much of it. It ages our skin as it causes wrinkles, causes a reduction in elasticity in our skin, it contains no vitamins or minerals, causes insulin resistance, causes obesity, causes fatty liver disease, it’s addictive and I’m sure the list goes on.

- Can make acidic food easier to eat by masking the taste with some sweetness
