A little pinch of salt to add for healthy skin this winter


Happy 2017 my friends! May you be happy and healthy, achieve your goals and attain all you wish for this year.

One goal you might have set for yourself is to take better care of your skin, now that winter is in full swing and the indulgence throughout the Christmas holidays has left some traces in the form of impurities or blemishes.

I would like to give you a little help on that topic today by drawing your attention to a magical and powerful mineral, known to most as Himalayan Pink Salt. Himalayan Pink salt is often said to be the cleanest salt available on this planet today.

The Himalayas – a mountain range including the highest mountains in the world stretches almost 2500 kilometres across Asia across the tectonic plates joining India and Eurasia. As the plates of the earth moved they pushed the Himalayas toward the sky and with the sea evaporating, its life-sustaining minerals crystallized under the heat of the sun to form what we now know as Himalayan Pink Salt.

Salt baths are a great way to relax at the end of the day while simultaneously infusing the skin and body with minerals and hydration. Through the process of dermal absorption, skin soaks up minerals from the water – often better than if the same minerals were orally consumed. A warm bath infused with Himalayan pink salt is especially great for relaxing cramped muscles.

Himalayan pink salt also works as a powerful detoxifier. When dissolved in water, this pink salt becomes an ionic solution that helps draw toxins out of skin and adipose tissues. Here are some simple tips on how to use Himalayan pink salt as part of your new and healthy skincare routine.

  1. Mix two teaspoons of Himalayan Pink Salt (preferably finely ground) with four teaspoons raw organic honey to create a spreadable paste and apply to the skin. Both, salt and honey have anti-inflammatory properties to soothe skin and calm breakouts as well as skin irritation.
  1. Mix one teaspoon of Himalayan Pink Salt with four ounces of warm water in small spray bottle until salt it is dissolved. Mist this onto clean, dry skin avoiding eyes. You can use daily or twice daily for increase hydration.
