30 Days to Dare

Day 4: Exfoliation, exfoliation, exfoliation

Exfoliating is a very important part of your skincare routine. You need to scrub away dead skin cells to leave behind smoother skin that can breathe and looks brighter and healthier. This also helps activate your blood circulation and stimulates the natural skin cell regeneration process.

Scrubs shouldn’t be expensive and are easy to make. Check out three tried, tested and loved face scrubs you can make at home:

Coconut & granulated sugar scrubgreat for softer skin

¼ - ½ cup of granulated sugar

½ cup coconut oil

Mix the ingredients until you get a coarse paste. Apply to clean skin and massage for 1-2 minutes. Rinse.

Banana sugar body scrub - great for softer skin

1 ripe banana

3 tablespoons of granulated sugar and ¼ teaspoon of pure vanilla extract or your favourite essential oil

Mix ingredients together and gently massage the mixture onto your face.

Citrus salt or sugar scrub amazing for energised skin

½ cup of sea salt

½ cup of oil (almond, olive, jojoba)

1 teaspoon of citrus zest (lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit)

Mix ingredients together. Rub onto skin while in the shower and rinse off.

We take time out to look closer to the condition of our skin, but we should also take a closer look to what we use to put products on our skin such as make-up brushes. Makeup brushes keep hold of old makeup and bacteria which is why we need to take the time to clean them. Read the instructions on how to clean them on the packaging but in most cases, they suggest you clean them in warm water. Keep doing this till you can see the water is relatively clear again.
