Day 22: Aromatherapy

Do you know what aromatherapy is? Have you always thought it’s just nice smelling oils? Well, it’s more than just that, it is in fact an alternative form of holistic therapy that uses essential oils to help improve and balance you both emotionally, mentally and physically.  Psychologically, aromatherapy gives you the chance to be mindful and reconnect with yourself, at your own comfort. Currently, the use of aromatic plant derived extracts and essential oils has increased, for the sole purpose of well-being and healing, in the world of cosmetics.

Aromatherapy is used as an alternative when people do not want to depend on antibiotics and drugs that contain nasty chemical compounds they are unaware of, for their well-being. So, maybe try out essential oils from a natural organic source to help strengthen your general health mentally and physically. This is what aromatherapy is.

Aromas experienced through aromatherapy and essential oils have a dynamic effect on the mind and body.  The potent properties of the essential oils is carried to the brain through the olfactory nerve (one of the cranial nerves to the centre of the brain), where the effect is then transferred to where it is needed in the body. This is one the fastest modes of communication within the cells of the brain as well as the body.

You may have heard of lavender essential oil but not many know that this purple herb is powerful enough to help in a multitude of ways. For example, it helps to reduce anxiety, panic attacks and even emotional stress. Lavender oil can protect against diabetes with its powerful effect on insulin, it can also help insomnia by promoting deep restful sleep and top it all off it also helps to restore a healthy even skin complexion and reduces acne when used topically. This shows what essential oils can do and the list can be endless.

You need to remember, your health is your priority and looking after it is not an extreme, it is an ESSENTIAL part of your life.
