L-Lysine

L-Lysine

Lysine is an essential amino acid - the body cannot produce it. It is vital to the stability of collagen as it is necessary to make the cross-links which hold the fibres together. These cross-links allow for the production of very large collagen fibres in the skin, bone and joints. Thanks to lysine, the collagen-based support matrix which provides elasticity and support, can be stable in skin and joints for years and even decades.

L-Lysine can be found in parmesan cheese, eggs and spirulina extract.

Benefits:

  1. Cross-links protein with the help of vitamin C, vitamin B6 and Copper.
  2. Lysine can be converted to carnitine as an energy source.
  3. Contributes to collagen fluorescence which allows us to visualise collagen in skin.
  4. Contributes to the uptake of minerals such as iron.

Did you know…

Lysine was referenced in the movie Jurassic Park to control the diet and dependency of the dinosaurs! It is an essential amino acid and they could not survive without it being supplemented by their food.
